We did so and took advantage of the on board discount. I asked my local TA about her opinion and she said something to the effect that they would reposition the ships to a more Westerly Med scene. She got this right out of one of the cruise mags. She’s nuts. There is no telling what they will do and no telling what will happen. That’s the right answer. Personally, I’m skipping cruises in the Med and only looking at short trips, land-based when traveling Southern Europe and nothing in the Middle East.

I know I’d rather do my "world" cruising someplace else. I think it’s prudent for the few cruise lines that do world cruises to arrange their itineraries as they have done this year. I asked my local TA about her opinion and she said something to the effect that they would reposition the ships to a more Westerly Med scene. She got this right out of one of the cruise mags. She’s nuts. There is no telling what they will do and no telling what will happen. That’s the right answer. Personally, I’m skipping cruises in the Med and only looking at short trips, land-based when traveling Southern Europe and nothing in the Middle East.

I would LOVE to do a Med cruise (Venice to Istambul) . . . actually was ready to book with Ren when they went under in 2001. I guess it just wasn’t meant to be for now. It no doubt is available . Having cruised a portion of the World Cruise in 1998 (6 weeks on board)Los Angeles to Hong Kong, I remember that we were able to sign on for 1999 cruises while on this cruise. We did so and took advantage of the on board discount.
